Pro-Lock torture test video

This is actual video taken by our Research & Development Team as they put the Pro-Lock through a torture test that has to be seen to be believed! "Extreme" is probably the best word to describe this test. See for yourself.

The ultimate product for securing your fuel

The price of gasoline has skyrocketed, and it will only get worse for us consumers as market uncertainty plays havoc with the cost of a barrel of crude oil. It's not uncommon to see news reports of gasoline thefts occurring all across the country. We must all come to the realization that the fuel in our vehicles is a precious commodity that should be secured!

For those of us who own vehicles without a locking fuel lid, the only option has been to purchase a key locking fuel cap. But if you lose the key, you're stuck.

But now, Pro-Fit has come to the rescue with a completely new approach:

  • Uses your stock fuel cap (avoids "check engine" warning)
  • Powered switch action to unlock
  • Emergency release as a backup
  • No key needed to open
  • Extremely durable and strong locking mechanism
  • Passes the Torture Test

No other product comes close to the durability, security and unique approach of our patent-pending Pro-Lock!

So how does the Pro-Lock work? The mechanism consists of an aluminum arm that pivots over your stock gas cap to prevent it from being unscrewed and removed. When access is needed, simply press a button and the pivoting arm rotates upward and automatically disengages. Your fuel cap is now ready to be removed. When refueling is complete, screw on your fuel cap and simply press down on the arm to lock it in place.

The Pro-Lock is designed, engineered and proudly manufactured in the USA. The mechanism is made from 6061-T6 aluminum that is hard anodized (arm, body, base, receivers and shafts) to exceed the hardness of 440C stainless steel. The system also features stainless steel bolts, washers, and nylock nuts. The pivot bolt is tamperproof and made from stainless steel, along with its torsion spring, compression spring and locking rod. The Pro-Lock is as rugged as they come!

Q and A

Q: Why put a locking gas cap or fueldoor on my vehicle if it already has an anti-siphon device?

A: Most people would assume that the phrase "anti-siphon" means that the vehicle manufacturer built a device to stop thieves from stealing gas. On the contrary, the function of the anti-siphon device is to protect the occupants from fuel fires during and after a rear impact, tip over and roll over accidents. The anti-siphon devices is merely a back flow check valves to prevent fuel from spilling out of the tank (source: http://www.langdonemison.com/CM/Articles/Articles3.asp).

Q: Why purchase a locking gas cap or fueldoor if thieves can just drill a hole in my gas tank anyway?

A: The Pro-Lock was not designed to protect your vehicle from fuel theft (although this is a by-product of the design). The Pro-Lock was designed to prevent vandalism (foreign objects) that could damage the anti-siphon device in the inlet spout of the fuel tank.

Q: What are the chances of someone vandalizing my vehicle's fuel system?

A: If it's not secured, the odds can be high. Now days it would be like leaving your doors locked but the windows down.

With the skyrocketing cost of fuel there will always be a growing risk of thieves attempting to steal it. To steal your fuel, thieves force hoses down into the fuel neck that smash into the anti-siphon device. The anti-siphon device is made of plastic with a light spring that can be damaged from this type of abuse. The point is to deter people who do not respect you or your property.

The decision to use a Pro-Lock is up to you and only you. Good luck and be safe.
